Fun at Norwood!February 3, 2022

Play itself is a voluntary, enjoyable activity with no purpose or end goal. it is important to understand that activities like this lay the foundation for a child to become a curious and excited learner later in life. Play-based learning helps children develop social skills, motivation to learn, and even language and numeracy skills. Taking initiative, focused attention, and curiosity about the world are all a part of play.

Forest School 2019 (click here to view photo)November 29, 2019

Our brand new School Age Summer program was lucky to have an opportunity to have Forest School sessions with Leah Smith this July!

With Leah's help and big thanks to the Winnipeg Foundation for supporting us in purchasing a wagon and some other supplies, we found some "wild" spaces right here in Norwood Flats and built an epic fort. We learned how to do risk/benefit assessments of our activities and used our creativity to build and imagine. We will keep visiting our fort in the future when we have inservice days.

What better way to spend a summer day than building, planning, creating and chillin with your friends! We think this could be the start of something great..

Winnipeg Foundation Summer Program GrantSeptember 9, 2019

A big shout out to the Winnipeg Foundation for supporting our first ever Summer program with a Summer Program Community Grant! Their generous donation allowed us to have field trips and special guests at no additional cost to our families.

We were also able to purchase some sand and water toys, a pop-up gazebo, some folding wagons and coolers for the the water and our lunches for when we are out and about in the neighbourhood. Last but not least, we are able to have some Forest School sessions in the "wild" spaces we discovered in our program. All in all it was a wonderful summer and we wouldn't have been able to do it without you!
